One of the most common questions we get when we take on a new client is “Who is in charge of the day-of clean up?” and the answer could be a simple “us!” if you’ve chosen one of our full planning packages that includes tear down. But if not, there is many other ways we can help you make sure your wedding clean-up services are taken care of. Typically, the responsibility for cleaning up after a wedding reception depends on a variety of agreements made between the couple and all applicable vendors and venues. Here's a little bit of a breakdown of possible options for day-of cleaning services:

Venue Staff: Most venues, especially those that specialize in weddings, include cleanup as part of their service package. This usually covers basic tasks like removing chairs, tables, decorations, and trash, as well as sweeping or vacuuming the floor. Double check with your venue during booking and if cleaning services aren’t included then try to negotiate the add on.

Catering or Event Staff: If the venue doesn't handle all aspects of the cleanup, the catering staff might clean up the kitchen area, clear dishes, and pack up any leftover food. Some catering companies offer full post-event cleanup as part of their package. This generally only includes food and beverage related items so decoration and other major equipment clean up is usually separate.
Wedding Planner: That’s us! If you’ve hired a wedding planner, they might coordinate the cleanup or handle specific tasks like collecting personal items, gifts or important wedding/reception pieces or overseeing vendors to ensure everything is cleared away appropriately.

Bridal Party or Family: Sometimes, close friends or family members can be appointed to help out, especially with personal items, gifts, or decorations. Assigning tasks to friends or family shouldn’t be the primary source of clean up but it is a good back up plan for ensuring all the stress is taken off the couple.

Cleanup Crew or Separate Vendor: If cleanup is not included in the venue or catering services, couples also have the option to hire a separate cleanup crew to handle everything once the event is over. This outside service specializes in event clean ups and is generally a cost-effective way to ensure proper clean up.
No matter how big or small of a wedding you’re planning, it's important to clarify what is included in the contract with the venues and vendors to ensure the cleanup is taken care of. Your special day should be as stress-free as possible, so let us help make it that way!
